feed the fish

The second night of our stay at Pensacola beach, we ate at a restaurant that happened to open up to the beach. After dinner, we noticed a small pier a bit further down, so we went for a walk. The lighting was perfect!

M noticed a little yellow box of fish food and immediately wanted to feed the fish. Being too cheap to pay for such things, we used the old "jiggle" method--you know where you jiggle the handle, and out come a few pieces of food at a time? Yes we're "THOSE people."

Happy fish!

baby zach, a senior?

Don't you think he could be posing for his senior portraits? Just look at that face!

Look how playful he is here! Zach, you were a great baby. Thanks for smiling so much for us!

baby zach

I had a lot of fun taking these photos for my friend Hallie just a few days before we left for Texas (via Pensacola beach on the way!). Here are some of my favorites of her precious new baby boy. There are lots more to come, Hallie. I promise I'm almost done processing them. Hope you like 'em!

pensacola beach

Warning: major photo overload ahead.

After a long day of driving, we finally arrived. Tired, but happy to see the beach, here's our shot to prove it:

Our little M hardly ever stops talking. She always has an opinion or something to say about everything. I believe she's discovering that all the sand dollars on the beach are broken, and she's not very happy about it. Oh, the injustices of the world!

In addition to broken sand dollars, there were other creatures to be found on the beach. This crab was no longer living. Someone had placed him on top of a lovely sand sculpture.

the great american road trip

Isn't it a great American tradition to take a gi-normous road trip every summer? I have to say, I really wish that our country had better public transportation. I mean, who was really cut out to ride in a car for like the entire day for two days straight? I'm much more a fan of flying places. But, hey, I shouldn't complain because we really had a great trip in a great car.

So, here we are, just getting started:

First stop: Florida citrus.

We didn't buy any because, frankly, it didn't look so good. We opted for the oh-so-famous Florida saltwater taffy instead.

I asked M what a monkey looked like. Pretty good, euh?

We had some good moments in the car...

...and then it was time for a movie. Definitely riding in style.

Some pretty scenery along the way.

Next post: Pensacola Beach...I know you can't wait :)

those little piggies

The girls love our "reading time" on the couch. It's our tradition to read books after lunch before everyone has a little "quiet rest time." These are my two favorite parts of the day. Although, sometimes "quiet rest time" is not so quiet. At least it sounds good in theory :)

a lot 'o sparklers

(Big exhale......) We've just finished up our summer commitment to our interns, and now I feel like I can exhale again. We lOVEd our time with them, but I'm ready for a little slower pace of life again. To celebrate, we had a final dinner together, and then, the staff stole away to play with some sparklers.

This is me, David and A. There are two figure 8's and can you see the shorter square to the left? Yep, that's A.

These were all shot on a tripod at ISO 100, f/8 for 4 seconds.

fireworks overload

Lake Eola was a hoppin' place to be last night! It was an awesome fireworks show. To take these photos, I used a tripod, set my ISO to 100, and aperture to f/8. Shutter speeds varied between 20s-30s.
