You've heard of kid-swapping, right? You know, "I watch your kids, you watch mine." Well, my friend, Emily, and I both wanted, no *needed* family photo sessions, so we decided to swap. It's great to have another photographer as a friend. And, I just like Emily. She's fun and cool. Anyway, Emily, here is your sneak peek...patience, my friend, patience! I'll be posting some more of these for sure. And, be watching for our family photos that Emily took too...coming soon!
On a totally different note, I feel like I'm going into "blogging withdrawl." Is that possible? We've started homeschooling M a few weeks ago, and it's been quite the life change for me. I just haven't had as much blogging time (or time for other things) as I'd like...I miss my blog! Who knew it was possible!? Blogging is so fun, and such a creative outlet for me...anyways, I miss it, and I miss my blogging friends! Thanks for stopping by! :)

three kids, a field and a trumpet
I spied a field that I'm excited to try and keep using. The only thing is...I'm not really sure what else lives in the field. I hate to imagine the possibilities, but we did not wander too far into it.
On a different note, the weather here the past two days has been glorious! It's cool, and it feels like fall. I feel so happy about that!

pumpkin overload
*warning* major pumpkin overload ahead!
So, pumpkins in Florida are excessively expensive, especially since I'm used to going to the pumpkin patch and picking them off the vine for a few dollars each. But, since our annual Fall Festival at work was postponed, we let the girls buy a few little pumpkins at the local "pumpkin patch." How ironic that we'd go to the pumpkin patch in sundresses, but, I guess that's Florida!

pioneer festival part deux
I said I'd share some more photos from the Pioneer Festival last weekend. It was a fun time. I'm definintely marking it on the calendar for next year.
Anyone been to Charleston, SC? You see these baskets everywhere there in the historic district.
Taken from the inside Pioneer house attic.
Native American dancers. This totally reminded me of South Dakota.
I couldn't decide if I liked this one more horizontal...
...or vertical
Just for you, Kendra. It's the oh-so-traditional pioneer bounce house.
I was so proud of the girls for braving this mini-ropes course.

little bun
My favorite part of the girls taking ballet lessons? Putting A's hair in a bun. I just love how it looks on her.
love, love, love
I just couldn't resist sharing a few more of this awesome family. I mean, just look at the way he's looking at you, Lori! Four kids later, and you both still look so in love with each other. *sigh* I just love that! And, of course, you have the cutest kids ever. Here's to you, C family :)

beautiful family
I get to shoot the most beautiful families. Check these guys out! We met up on Saturday afternoon with the goal of getting some great shots of the entire family together. It wasn't easy, but after saying "smelly feet" and "poopey butt" over and over, we managed to get some smiles out of everyone all at once. Oh, and of course the Pez dispenser helped too.

pioneer days
It was "Pioneer Days" in Orlando today. The girls had a lot of fun. Admission was only $3 per person over 5 years old, and eveything else was included. The girls saw Native American dancers and a real log cabin, walked a ropes course, jumped in bounce houses, went into the petting zoo, rode horses, and got balloon "wands." It was a fun day. More pics to come, but here are a few from their favorite part of the day.

hunting for fall
It's fall in Orlando, but to me it's not obvious. You have to look closely. It's sort of like playing "Where's Waldo" when you have to search and search until you finally find that red cap. Yeah, it's sort of like that here. A and I decided to hunt for fall yesterday, and we actually found "it." Leaves. From deciduous trees. And, they were colorful! Beautiful, in a haunting way.

that face
This little face makes me laugh and makes me cry. I guess I've been feeling sort of Eeyore-ish lately. Parenting is just one of those jobs where you never know if you're doing it right or not. Lately, I've felt like I'm walking around in the dark with a flashlight trying to figure out what the heck I'm doing. I'm becoming more OK with my own confusion, but it's sure not fun. Maybe that's why I love photography. Are you following my stream-of-consciousness processing here? Somehow taking beautiful images is sort of like capturing a glimpse of eternity for me. A picture of how life was meant to be. Great photography reminds me of how beautiful God is. I do believe in God, and belive that He is good, even when life is confusing. What everyday things inspire you to think of what is eternal?
I've been using a lot of Ginnie's actions lately. At only $20 for her set of 8, they're a great deal. In the previous post I used her "Vintage Black and White." These photos were processed using "Mocha."

portfolio building special: close out
Thanks to everyone's interest, I am now fully booked through the end of 2008. I am not taking any more bookings this year. And, I've decided to give myself a little vacation in January. So, my next availble openings will begin in February of 2009.
The portfolio building special is also coming to a close. I will release my new pricing schedule in the new year. However, I am going to extend the Portfolio Building special for one more week. If you would like to book a session with me, I will give you the PB pricing and deal, but you must book your session this week. Your session may take place anytime next year. Hope that makes sense! You can email me to set up a time: wood(dot)kristy(at)gmail.com.

little miss spunky
She's full of life, got a mind of her own, and is definitely going to be something one day. She keeps me on my toes, and keeps me humble. Of course, I love her to death. Sometimes I wonder what God was thinking when he entrusted me with such a spunky one, but then I think about how dull life would be without her. There's hardly a quiet moment in our house. High highs, and low lows, we experience it all around here. We love you M, and look forward to what year 6 will hold for you!
And, Happy Birthday, Dad! We'll call you tomorrow.
