I literally had this challenge last Saturday. The Jones family was great! Such cute kids and very well behaved too. Maybe I'm just biased towards half-Asian kids. I think they're adorable!

finding rest
It's a self-declared "Spring Break" at my house. What does this mean? Well, we're not doing any "official" schoolwork this week, and I'm trying to rest as much as possible. Not only physical rest, but just being at rest. In my soul. It's only Tuesday, but I'm feeling so much better already. I'm giving myself permission to stay in my PJ's as long as I want in the morning, and I'm enjoying it. (This is so not natural for me!) I think I'll tackle a few creative projects that have been waiting for a while too. I feel so alive and restored when I'm being creative! Rest is a good thing.

camping fun
The highlights of our camping trip according to the girls: sleeping in a tent, roasting marshmallows, going on a nature walk, fishing, climbing trees, and playing on the playground.
The highlights of our camping trip according to the parents: adult conversation, eating delicious food that we didn't have to prepare, staring into the campfire after the kids went to bed, and best of all--other children for our girls to constantly play with from sun-up to sun-down.

free to be
Oh to be a kid again. Where the days are simple and full of little delights. Just free.

gone fishin'
While we were camping this weekend, we decided to take a walk down to the pier. It was full of cub scouts learning how to fish. Since we don't own any fishing gear, the girls were quite interested in learning what fishing was all about. A friendly park ranger gave the girls a little introduction. I think they're hooked. (Pun intended.)

mesmerized
I spent my weekend staring into a campfire. I love staring into fire. It's so beautiful and unpredictable. Completely mesmerizing.

home decor
Here's my latest home decorating project. I painted the girls' bathroom green with a fun scalloped edge. The finishing touch: three pink circles topped with fabric-matted frames. I love it!

birthdays...
My good friend and fellow photog Emily asked me to take photos at her son Caedmon's birthday party. I was happy to help, because I know how much I want good photos at my girls' parties, but when you're the mom and the photog, it doesn't work out so well! I'll let you know when it's your turn, Emily ;)
What a cool alien cake!

be true
After a long day in St. Augustine, A was just done with me and my camera. I love how kids are so true to their feelings. No cover up, no hiding. Just true.
