baby aaron

A friend let me take some photos of her 6 week old baby. It was a lot tougher than I anticipated! 6 weeks olds don't do a lot of sleeping once you start messing around with them. Plus, he was hungry. Despite being fussy, he managed to give us a few smiles. Here are some of my favorites.

the end. (ha ha)

I've got so much to learn, especially about lighting. These are all shot in natural light coming in from a north facing window with my 50mm f/1.8. So, to all you photographers out there, any and all constructive criticism is much appreciated! Oh, and yes, I realize the focus is a bit soft in the last two.

  1. What a cute baby. Great catchlights. I feel like his eyes aren't spot on sharp in the first few, but it could be my eyes! hehe I just put in new contacts and I feel like they're not up to par. Or maybe i'm getting old? Nah, couldn't be...

  4. That is an adoreable baby. I didn't know where else to post this. But you asked if I have trouble with noise shooting at
    800. The answer is yes. I find that a lot of times I need to run it through noiseware sometimes even at 400. By the way TFL!!

  8. I suck at people photos so can't help you with cc, but I do want to say that the one of mom's hands on the feet is a shot I've never seen before--very creative.

  10. My favorite is the last one! Of course, there needs to be lots of face shots, etc, but this last one is really such a unique and adorable perspective and cropping.

What a great job you did. Lighting is the be all and end all isn't it. I swear that I don't even like to take photos on a cloudy day. But you did SUCH a wonderful job and I am sure that the mama was extremely happy.

  14. I think these work so well because of the blue in the eyes/shirt/blanket. It really makes his eyes come alive! Wonderful use of color! -David
